Church calls for return of scriptural education in school curriculum

The St Paul Anglican Church, Odo-Ona, Ibadan, Oyo State has called on the federal and state government in Nigeria to return scriptural education to the school curriculum so as to stop moral decadence in the society.
Penpushing reports that, the Vicar, Venerable. Isaac Adeyemi made the call while speaking during a press conference in celebration of the 110 Founders Day Anniversary of the church, with theme: Educational and Scriptural Trainings are Inseparable Panacea to Moral Decadence in the Society’
The church maintained that there is need to return morality back to the nation, emphasizing that the nation can’t be at its best if scriptural education is left out in school curriculum, noting that lack of morality is the cause of social vises currently going on in the nation.
Penpushing further reports that, the cleric lamented that scriptural education has been replaced with sociology in various schools across the nation, adding that this might affect morality of children who are future leaders of Nigeria.
“Crimes is increasing on daily basis due to lack of morals in the society, Christian Religious Study (CRS) has been exchanged with sociology in various schools, if government failed to addressed this issue, it might degenerate to something else.”
Penpushing also reports that Adeyemi assured that the church is set to launch vision 2030 which is targeted at catering for the immediate environment of the church through imbibing morality, provision of quality education, healthcare facilities, and youth empowerment, among others.
The clergy man said activities lined up for the Founders Day Celebration include: visitation to the school of handicap, Molete, Ibadan, prayer for the nation, praise concert, giving awards to worthy individuals, launching of vision 2030, and thanksgiving service.
Penpushing reports that, speaking on insecurity currently going on in the state, the clergyman called on the Governor to use dialogue approach in resolving security issue, with emphasis on Ibarapa axis of the state.
The Venerable cautioned that arrest of Sunday Igboho may further worsen the situation, noting that for peace to be restored back to the state, the governor need to thread softly and engage both parties, saying that by doing this, vital information to resolve the issue will be revealed
“There is need for grass root engagement so as to avoid what happened during EndSARS matter, there are fundamental issues which the government must address, although Nigerian constitution gives everybody privileged to live anywhere in the country, but the freedom does not means killings and causing problem all over the state destroying life’s and properties.”
“Governor Makinde should know that what is going on currently in the state is beyond Igboho, it has become a movement and if care is not taking, it might lead to something else which the government cannot handled”, he stated
