BUILDING OUR FUTURE TOGETHER AGENDA REQUIRES SUPPORT OF ALL’ -OGUN DEPUTY GOVERNOR
The Deputy Governor while commending the Conference of Old Students/Alumni initiatives, said given back to Alma Mater would promote healthy rivalry amongst old students of the State Public Primary and Secondary Schools as well as help the State regain its position at the higher end of the education league table in the country.
“This administration was committed to education; however we have the challenge of funding. We have so much that has to be done and it cost so much, so this is when your conference comes in, to be able to help us pull people together and make them understand what it is that they can do to support us and promote the ideas”.
“If people know that we have good ideas and know that when they put their money, the money will go into very good scheme and there would be results, am sure they would be encouraged to give back to their Alma Mater” she advised.
Penpushing further reports that, Salako-Oyedele also pointed out that it was not all about getting money from the old students but being good role models to others, so that they will be encouraged to come back and impact the lives of the younger ones.
The Chairman, Conference of Old Students and Alumni Associations of Western Nigeria, Ogun State Chapter, Prof. Delana Ajao Adelekan, earlier in his remarks said the association was an affiliation of the Educational Initiative for Development in Western Nigeria, adding that it was established solely for the effective mobilisation of old students towards the delivery of objective of the ‘Campaign for Alma Mater Endowments’
Penpushing also reports that, Prof. Adelekan said that the declining standard of education in the State was worrisome, hence the need for old students to do something for their Alma Mater in order to salvage the situation.
The association chairman while commending the giant strides of the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun in the education sector since assumption of office, noted that most of the lands belonging to public schools in the State had been seriously encroached upon by their adjoining communities, urging the State Government to take necessary actions.
Penpushing reports that, the Chairman however, reiterated the willingness of the conference to continue to partner with the State Government in the effort to raise the standard of education in the State.
