BUILDING A CHURCH FOR GOD HAS BEEN MY DREAM, SAYS AKANNI ALUKO
“Am a Catholic, and I like it, but Catholic started coming to my life aggressively after the death of my mother and during my 19 years in sickness, my mother was a member of Baba Obadare’s Church (WOSEM) at the beginning of Pentecostal Fellowship in Yoruba land,’
‘So she always tell me the need for me to build a church for God, she said that I can’t have a big compound like this without having a church in it, so I decided to build small church inside the compound for family prayer before I later built the bigger one for the catholic’.
The former Publisher pointed out that the legacy he want to leave behind is for the people to know that he helped the less privileged and those who are in need of assistance, adding that he used to shared whatever he has with the them.
‘These were what I have also trained my children to be doing, and I thank God that my children have also imbibed the spirit of giving, we are happy and life goes on. We should always use whatever we have to help others because we will collect it back in multiple folds, so, let us all do whatever we can do to assist the work of God, I tried my best to build a church for God and my wife and children rallied around me to make my dream come to pass’.
Penpushing further reports that, Aluko, while speaking on the cost implication of the church building noted that ‘you don’t quantify your effort when you are dealing with God because is not a trade, what I am saying is that let your little contributions be accepted to God, I don’t know the cost, all I know is that my wife and my children supported me to make the dream of building a church for God come to past’.
The Presiding Priest of the Church, Rev Fr Samuel Atotebi in his sermon said that this year harvest is a thanksgiving of appreciation and harvest of testimony,’ because the grace of God is sufficient on the church’.
Penpushing also reports that, Atoyebi noted that the church was built through the generosity of Chief Aluko in appreciation to what God has done in his life, adding that the church building was a lesson to the catholic church’ because for a man to be able to give out of what God has giving to him to appreciate the goodness and mercy of the Lord’.
The cleric noted that David struggled to build a house for God but God said no, so we have to thank God for making it possible for Baba to have built this church, stressing that, “It is a great lesson to us in the catholic church, let us continues to excel and to thrive and give back to the church just as St Paul has told us in the Bible, as we continue for the growth of the church, particularly in the catholic, God will continue to be with us in love’.
