Buhari celebrates Lanre Arogundade at 60
The Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated a veteran journalist and Chairman of International Press Centre (IPC), Lanre Arogundade on the occasion of his 60th birthday.
Penpushing reports that, Buhari in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina while rejoicing with the celebrator lauded him for his relentless efforts in promoting freedom of the press, democratic principles and increased transparency during election processes.
The statement added that the President said he recognized the role he played when he(Arogundade) was President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), adding that in the field of journalism, he is known to be a forthright media guru
“He recognises the important role the association Mr Arogundade leads is playing in ensuring that journalists and other media workers perform their legitimate duties in their respective countries, the statement emphasized
Penpushing further reports that, Buhari urged Arogundade to do more to ensure that the tenets and code of ethics of the profession are upheld as Nigeria and other West African countries prepare for their general elections.
The statement said President Buhari joins family, friends, colleagues and well-wishers in praying for continued health and happiness for the sexagenarian who is a worldwide known media practitioner
