BROADCAST JOURNALIST, AYINLA EGBA SET TO BECOME AUTHOR, AS HE LAUNCHES COMPENDIUM OF EGBA HISTORY
Penpushing reports that, through extensive research and interviews with historians, critics, focusing in particular on the dates of events, the author put together a compendium that will help people that want to know more about the city of Abeokuta, especially history students all over the world.
The book explains in great detail, the dates of major events, even before the city was named, and it also offers opportunities to explore many of the markers of Abeokuta identity as the cradle of civilisation in Nigeria, as supported by photographs.
Soyinka boasted that, the book will attract those that does not even like reading, stressing that it will be presented with many important dignitaries in attendance including His Royal Majesty, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland who penned the forward of the book.
Penpushing also reports that, Oba Adedapo Adewale Tejuoso,(Osile Oke-Ona Egba); Oba Adegboyega Dosunmu, (Olowu of Owu Kingdom); Oba Abdulfatai Akorede Akamo,(Olunla of Itori, Egbaland), among other traditional rulers will be in attendance.
‘The public presentation will be chaired by His Excellency, Prince (Dr.) Bola Ajibola, the Olori Omooba of Owu Kingdom; Iyalode of Yorubaland, Chief (Mrs.) Alaba Lawson will be the Mother of the Day; while High Chief Oluyinka Kufile, (Aro of Egbaland) is the Chief Host among other prominent dignitaries.
The Egba born author disclosed that, the renowned film maker, Tunde Kelani will also grace the occasion with many other celebrities from the music, movie and broadcasting industry, stating that with this book, he(Shoyinka) has not only ventures into the league of authors but one of the custodians of history of Abeokuta.
