Breaking: IGBO COMMUNITY LEADER, ANTHONY IGBOKA ASSASINATED
The deceased who was a one time member of the Anambra State House of Assembly, recently bagged the award of Hero of Njikoka, at a colorful ceremony held at Njikoka Local Government Secretariat, Saturday January 26 at Abagana.
Penpushing further reports that, Igboka was among various individuals who were honoured by the Njikoka Local Government for their contributions to the development of the area couples with’ impeccable services and incomparable sacrifices over the years in public, community service and philanthropy.
The ugly development which occurred at about 7.30pm has thrown the community and environs in confusion, as at the time of filing this report, as reasons behind the killing of the Igbo High Chief could not be ascertained. He was a former Chief Whip and Chairman, House Committee on Security in Anambra State Assembly
The Anambra State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Haruna Mohammed said investigations into the killing has commenced, but stated that, information in regards the incident was still sketchy, but added that the incident occured around Nimo market following a sporadic gun shots
Penpushing also reports that, the police spokesman said, a patrol team attached to Nimo Division rushed to the scene and discovered that the victim on the driver seat of his Chevrolet SUV car kaying unconscious in the pool of his own blood and his body riddled with bullet wounds
‘The victim was rushed to Beke Hospital,Nimo, where he was confirmed dead by the Medical Doctor and corpse deposited at the hospital morgue. Prekiminary investigation revealed that victim was shot at close range by four armed men who escaped in a pickup van towards Abacha Eziowele road. Twenty five expended ammunition of 7.62mm ammunition were recovered at the scene’,he said
The Command spokesman said, the Commissioner of Police, Mustapha Dandaura has visited the scene and ordered for a full scale investigation to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident and bring perpetrators to justice.
