Breaking: Gunmen kill traditional ruler, abduct wife in Kwara state
Gunmen have allegedly stormed palace of traditional ruler of Koro community in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, Oba Oluseun Aremu on Thursday night, shot him dead, and subsequently abducted the wife.
Penpushing reports that sources said the gunmen on arriving the community which is a boundary between Kogi and Kwara State headed straight to the palace at about 8pm and immediately launched violent attack
The monarch who was a retired Brigadier-General was said to be caught unaware with the intrusion of the gunmen, who subsequently shot him, as the entire vicinity became rowdy, while the gunmen escaped from the scene with the deceased wife.
Penpushing further reports that as at the time of filing thins report late Thursday, residents and the monarch subjects couldn’t believe their ears and eyes over the ugly development, while many of them were still nursing fear.
The sources added that the gunmen were yet to contact the family of the late traditional ruler to ascertain the whereabout of the abducted wife, while arrangements were said to be ongoing to deposit the corpse in the morgue.
Penpushing also reports that the Kwara State Police Command was yet to confirmed or deny the incident, as at the time of incident, while efforts to contact the Public Relations Officer of the Command was yet to be successful.
