BOMB EXPLODES NEAR EKITI GOVERNMENT HOUSE
There was a pandemonium on Saturday at the old secretariat of the Ekiti State Government, Ado Ekiti, the State Capital following a suspected bomb explosion next door to Governor Kayode Fayemi’s office.
Penpushing reports that the bomb went off and brought down a building around the area and also affected a section of the State’s ministry of Chieftaincy Affairs, and also damaged parts of the Ministry of Finance, and other buildings on the premises.
The Commissioner of Police Amba Asuquo who visited the explosion scene confirmed the incident, and as at the time of filing this reports there were no casualties, adding that preliminary investigation showed that the bomb might have gone off from the explosive ordinance disposal (EOD) office within the premises.
Penpushing further reports that, the State Boundary Commission, Directorate of the Information and Communication Center, of the Director of Finance and Administration and the Council Chambers of the State Traditional Rulers were badly affected .
The bungalow apartment of the EoD office was also touched, as well as the adjoining offices that housed the office of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Correspondents’ Chapel, Ekiti Chapter were not left out from the explosion
Penpushing also reports that number of offices within the axis had their louvre blades and glasses shattered to pieces while the asbestos and Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) ceiling, doors and windscreen of vehicles parked around the offices were affected.
