BOKO HARAM INSURGENTS ARE NOT MUSLIMS, SARAFA ISHOLA

Earlier in her welcome speech, General Manager of Nigeria Television Authority (NTA),Funmi Wakama noted that Ramadan as we all know, remains one of the important and compulsory pillars of Islam that must be observed by Muslims.

‘This is in accordance with the commandment of Allah (SWT) in the Holy Quran, Chapter 2, verse 183, wherein Allah commanded: O you, who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous’.

.On this note, let me congratulate the entire Muslim Ummah for witnessing and being able to observe this year’s Ramadan as commanded by almighty Allah. Equally, l welcome our distinguished Guest Lecturer.

She also noted that the topic of this year’s Ramadan Lecture: Islam, Christianity and National Integration could not have been more apt,adding that as we continue in this period of Ramadan,there was need to put to use all what we learn for our spiritual and physical development.

‘And, even after this Ramadan, the fear of God, self-discipline, unity, national consciousness and fulfilment of civic obligations that we have exhibited in the holy month should be sustained so that Nigeria will be a better place for all of us to live in’.

Wakama added that, we must not let these virtues disappear with the month of Ramadan, and also the need to demonstrate discipline, obedience to constituted authority and desire to be our brother’s keeper at all times.

‘These attributes or values will not only help our spiritual development, but go a long way in promoting national unity and socio-economic development of our great nation. In fact, if we sustain our Ramadan habits after the month, the world will be a better place for us all.

Penpushing, however reports that Guest Lecturer, Prof Mufutau Oloyede Abdul Rahman who was the guest lecturer spoke extensively on the topic of Ramadan Lecture: Islam, Christianity and National Integration
