Boko Haram attacks borno state governor’s convoy

The Boko Haram insurgents on Wednesday attacked the  Governor of Borno State Babagana Zulum while  on a trip to Monguno and Baga towns to distribute food to Internally Displaced Persons(IDPs)

Penushing reports that, the gang had laid ambush for the governor, who another source said was returning from Baga, a deserted fishing community in Kaka local government area,but narrowly escaped being killed.

The Governor’s spokesman,Isa Gusau confirmed the development, telling this newspaper he was working on a press statement on the matter, while in same vein, multiple source confirmed, adding that the Governor was unhurt as soldiers and police officers guarding him repelled the assault on the convoy.

Penpushing further reports that, the Governor left for Monguno Monday afternoon, and before his departure reports filtered in that some officials of the Borno State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) had run into an ambush by Boko Haram along the Maiduguri-Monguono road.

The State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) officials were reportedly abducted by  attackers reportedly abducted, but as at the time of filing this report efforts  to get details of the abductions have not yielded results.

Penpushing also reports that, the agency chairperson Yabawa Kolo, confirmed that some of the humanitarian officials   came under Boko Haram attack, but did not give details of the number of persons involved.
