Orders on Anti-Robbery Squad: Area Commanders will be held responsible for disobedience, police commissioner declares

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Hakeem Odumosu, has declared that he would hold Area Commanders responsible if any of officers under Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS)  fail to adhere to directive that, the squad should henceforth disengage from routine checks.

Penpushing reports that, Odumosu made the declaration at meetings with the police chieftains, in response to the directives of the Inspector General of Police, Muhammed Adamu on the mode of operations of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) and other tactical units.

The Commissioner also warned officers and men of the command to totally comply with the directives, and reaffirmed the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the SARS and other tactical units, as approved and circulated by the office of the Force Public Relations Officer.

Penpushing further reports that, the police boss however appealed to the general public to collaborate with the police in the fight against police brutality, harassment, incivility and extortion in Lagos State.

The Commissioner was accompanied at the meetings held in the Conference Hall of the Command in , Ikeja, by  the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations, DCP Mohammed Ali, Deputy Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department, DCP Yetunde Longe and Deputy Commissioner of Police, Rapid Response Squad,  Lagos State, DCP Tunji Disu,
