
I am guilty of raping 13-year-old girl with Down syndrome, accused tells court
A 30-year-old scrap dealer, Kalu Iloh has admitted a rape crime against a 13-year-old girl with Down syndrome on August 13, 2025 at Nkpor in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra.
Penpushing reports that the defendant admitted committing the crime when he was arraigned on Thursday before Children, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Offences Court in Awka, Anambra State
The prosecutor, Chinyere Okechukwu, a police inspector, had earlier told the court that the 42-year-old mother of the 13-year-old victim reported a case of defilement at the police station.

“The 42-year-old mother of the 13-year-old victim reported a case of defilement at the police station. She said she came back from a business trip and noticed that her daughter was walking in an unusual manner’, she said.
“On enquiry, her daughter told her that the defendant barged into the bathroom while she was urinating, forcefully removed her clothing and had canal knowledge of her’, the prosecutor added.
“After medical examination at the Ntasi Sexual Assault Referral Centre at General Hospital Enugu-Ukwu, a medical practitioner confirmed that the girl had been defiled,” she told the court.

Penpushing further reports that the prosecutor pointed out that the offence contravened Sections 130(2) (a) (b) of the Administration Criminal Justice Law 2022, adding that the accused had admitted to the crime
The magistrate, U.E. Onochie, following admit of guilt by the accused in the one count charge of defilement ordered that he(defendant) should be remanded in a correctional facility and subsequently adjourned the case until September 24, 2025 for sentencing.
