Bandits kill children, others in Zamfara state

Bandits have shot dead number of children on Tuesday night, alongside other residents of Kuryar Madaro village in Zamfara State, as well as unconfirmed number of other victims’ sustained injuries and hospitalized as at the time of filing this report.

Penpushing reports that source said in all, 19 persons were killed in the village located in Kaura Namoda local government area, which shares borders with Zurmi and Shinkafi, two of the local government areas.

The source added that as at the time of this report, the victims have been buried, adding that the victims could not run away when the bandits launched the attack which lasted for hours, and also looted shops and stole domestic animals.

Penpushing further reports that, the attack comes barely 24 hours after  the Commissioner of Police in the State, Ayuba Elkana, visited special force operatives posted to strategic locations on the Shinkafi-Kaura Namoda road.

“We have buried 19 people killed by the bandits. Several others with various degrees of injuries have been hospitalised. Among those killed were children and women who could not run away during the attack”, a source identified as Mustapha Mai Leda said

Penpushing also reports that, another villager who narrowly escaped death in his accounts said A 13 houses and 16 vehicles, including those belonging to the police, were burnt down by the bandits.

The Zamfara State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Shehu when contacted confirmed the attack but did not give details as at Wednesday of time of filing this report.
