Bandits deserve death, says Emir
The Emir of Katsina, Abdulmuminu Usman, has declared that bandits killing innocent people deserve nothing but death, stressing that since they have decided to go after people’s lives, they also don’t deserve to live
Penpushing reports that, the traditional ruler, made the declaration while speaking during a security stakeholders meeting on Tuesday in Katsina, and also faulted the delay in prosecution and punishment of offenders
The emir noted that the delay in prosecution was not good in serving as deterrent to other criminals, calling on governments at all level on need to rise and punish the bandits accordingly, stressing that no one should resort to banditry in the name of settling scores.
Penpushing further reports that, Usman comment is a rebuke of controversial Islamic cleric, Abubakar Gumi, who has been leading a campaign for dialogue with the bandits towards granting them amnesty from punishment for their criminal activities.
Meanwhile, among those present at the meeting include: Governor Aminu Masari, the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, the Emir of Daura, Umar Faruk Umar, and a host of others.
