DRUNK DRIVER KILLS FOUR WORSHIPPERS
The car swooped off the road, uprooted an electric pole and thereafter crushed the worshippers standing in front of the Rahamot Lahill Quareeb mosque located beside the road, killing them on the spot.
Penpushing gathered that, the deceased were relaxing in from of the mosque in preparation for the vigil to take place in the mosque, when the sad incident occurred at about 10.30pm of the fateful day. The impact of the crash forced the authorities of the State Traffic officials to axed the car into pieces before the four occupants of the car could be removed from the wreckage
The Head of Operations Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Abeokuta Division, Olaleye Babajide, who spoke with Penpushing at the scene of the accident, said report, had it that, the occupants of the car including the driver were heavily drunk.
He confirmed the overspeeding on the part of the driver was responsible for the crash, adding that on search of the car number of alcoholic drinks, including tramadol were seen, adding that, four dead bodies of the worshippers had being deposited at the morgue of Federal Medical Centre(FMC),Abeokuta.
The Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), official added that, two of the occupants of the car were arrested while attempting to run away from the scene of the accident, adding that the car after uprooting the electric pole, crushed the worshippers before it summersaulted.
