APPEAL COURT SACKS ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS SENATOR, REPLACES WITH PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC PARTY

The Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) submitted that she scored the highest number of lawful votes cast during the keenly contested poll and prayed   the tribunal to nullify  Adeyeye’s victory and order a supplementary election accordingly in the district.

Penpushing further reports that, the petitioner in her written address claimed that the election was not conducted in substantial compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Acts, having been allegedly fraught with all manners of irregularities.

The petitioner who was a former Deputy Governor in Ekiti State asked the Tribunal to annul votes in areas that were found to be incredibly marked with irregularities also accused the electoral body of dereliction of duties and alleged that the documents used for the conduct of the election were not duly signed by party agents.

Penpushing also recalled that Adeyeye of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was in September sacked by the tribunal in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State Capital, while Olujimi was declared as the winner of the poll, as the final computation, showed that Olujimi polled 54,894 votes to emerge victorious over Adeyeye, who before his final sack was the Senate Committee Chairman on Media and Publicity, said to polled 52,243.

Meanwhile, Justice Anyanwu  in the final judgement  which  upheld the tribunal judgement also  directed the Independent National Electoral Commission( INEC) to issue a certificate of return  Olujimi as the bonafide winner of the election.
