Anthony Joshua flaunts family, floods social media with photographs of visit to Nigeria
Former World Boxing Champion Anthony Joshua has showcased his root and family, as he flooded the social media through his official X page, featuring a photo of himself with his uncle, brother, and cousins during his visit to Nigeria,
Penpushing reports that the photographs which attracted over 4.6 million viewers and 2,500 comments, and commendation by his fans for remembering his roots despite his global fame, further showcased the power of family and the pride of reconnecting with one’s roots.
The boxing champion it is recalled was in his hometown, Sagamu during his visit with his nuclear family, and was later hosted by Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun at his Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, while in similar vein President Bola Tinubu hosted him in Lagos.
Penpushing further reports that the world boxing champion in the photographs posted on his social media page captioned it “My uncle, brother, and cousins 👑,” resonated deeply with many, sparking conversations about family values, homecoming and the Nigerian culture.
The British-Nigerian boxer has always embraced his heritage, using every opportunity to reconnect with his roots, while his recent visit was aimed to further solidify his ties to Nigeria his home country, and during his visit to Tinubu he presented an autographed boxing glove.
Penpushing also reports that the symbolic gift represented perseverance and excellence – qualities synonymous with Joshua’s career, and in response Tinubu described Joshua as true champion and worthy ambassador of Nigeria.

Penpushing reports that during his visit to Governor Abiodun, he was named Ogun State Sports Ambassador, as well as the government announcing plan to also construct a brand-new boxing ring in his honour.
The Governor at the event disclosed that Joshua would be lighting the Gateway Games National Sports Festival torch, which has been postponed to May 2025, adding that the government has equally concluded arrangements to give him a brand-new house in Sagamu, his hometown
“I want to openly request that, besides the fact that today we are going to officially confirm you as our sports ambassador, we want to request that you come back to light up the Gateway Sports Festival torch; you will be the one lighting it up’, Abiodun said.
“We are going to construct a brand-new Anthony Joshua Indoor Boxing Ring, and that boxing ring will be in a stadium here in Abeokuta to ensure that you come home more frequently. Besides the fact that you are now our official sports ambassador, we have decided that we will give you a brand-new house in Sagamu,” he added.
Penpushing further reports that Joshua speaking to journalists after the visits expressed appreciation for the honour bestowed on him, and took time to equally shared his professional ambitions for the year ahead, and revealed plans for a high-profile fight against Tyson Fury and his goal of becoming a three-time world heavyweight champion
