All Progressives Congress Chairman becomes Asoju Oba of Egbaland

The Chairman of ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Ogun State Chapter, Chief Yemi Sanusi has added another feather to his cap, following his installation as the third Asoju Oba of Egbaland, a ceremony held under the approval of Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo

Penpushing reports that the installation ceremony was performed by the monarch at Adire Hall inside the Ake Palace Ground, Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital, and witnessed by Governor Dapo Abiodun and former Governor Olusegun Osoba.

The other notable dignitaries include immediate past Nigeria Higher Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Sarafa Tunji -Ishola, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Dimeji Bankole among others.

Penpushing further reports that Gbadebo while speaking at the events explained that  Sanusi was the third indigene of Egbaland to be honoured with the title of Asoju Oba, which according to him is reserved for a deserving and credible native of Egbaland.

The royal father added that the Egba Traditional Council has over the years watched Sanusi and noticed his integrity, hard work and leadership qualities, hence, the conferment of the important chieftaincy title.

Penpushing also reports that Gbadebo while praying for a long life and good health for the Asoju Oba, urged him to use his new title to contribute to the socio-cultural development of Egbaland in particular and Ogun State in general.

The Ogun State Governor in his remarks at the event, thanked the Alake and Egba Traditional Council for finding Sanusi worthy of the Asoju Oba title, noting that the honour bestowed on the Ogun State Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) is honour for all the party members in the state.

Penpushing reports that Abiodun described Sanusi as a man of integrity and loyalty who has led the party to electoral victories both at the national, state and local government levels.

‘Chief Sanusi deserves this honour. He’s a man of integrity; he is loyal dependable consensual, consistent and credible. And he has led Ogun APC very well. Ogun APC, through the dynamic leadership of Sanusi, has grown in leaps and bounds”, he stated.

Penpushing further reports that Abiodun, however, expressed optimism that the Ogun State All Progressives Chairman(APC) Chairman will discharge his duties as Asoju Oba of Egbaland with excellence and integrity.

The Asoju Oba fielding questions from journalisrs shortly after the installation ceremony, expressed his joy over the honour done him by the land of his birth, emphasizing that the title bestowed on him will spur him to be an epitome of good leadership.

Penpushing also reports that Sanusi added that  as Asoju Oba of Egbaland, he will carry his office with the respect it deserves and discharge his duties diligently.
