Alake to visit orphanage, lepers colony to mark 80th birthday

The 80th birthday ceremony of the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo has been designed to accommodate visits to orphanage home and Lepers Colony, as measures to give inmates sense of belongings.
Penpushing reports that this was made known at a press conference by the Chairman of the Organising Committee, Chief Oluyinka Kufile accompanied by other members held at the Alake Palace, in Ake, Abeokuta.
The Chairman who read out programme of events disclosed that the birthday ceremony will kick start with a Chieftaincy Installations on Friday, September 8, 2023 at the Adire Hall, in Abeokuta, as well as Road Race scheduled for Saturday.
Penpushing further reports that Kufile told the press conference that other events include, a Medical Screening at the Amphitheatre Basement, a visit to the Daniel Akintonde School of the Physically Challenged, Stella Obasanjo Orphanage Home, and Sacred Heart Hospital, Lantoro, Abeokuta
The committee boss added that dedication of museum and library/Light Entertainment which will herald an evening with the traditional ruler are part of the activities line up for the events, adding that in similar vein, the townships, communities, cultural groups, as well as society groups will on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 pay homage to the monarch at the Ake Palace Amphitheatre.
Penpushing also reports that Kufile, a high chief in the ancient town explained that there are other varieties of events, included in the programme, stressing that the birthday ceremony will be rounded off with a Golf and Squash Tournament in honour of the celebrator.
