Akoko Edo Development Association donates cash to support treatment of shot police officer

A Non-Governmental Organisation, Akoko Edo Development Association has donated the sum of  N250, 000 towards the welfare of  Yusuf Suleiman, the Divisional Police Officer of Igara , who was recently ambushed and shot along Igarra – Auchi federal road.

Penpushing reports that, a statement jointly issued by Mary Opii and Edith Aiyede said the cash donation was handed over on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 to  the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Femi David who is  Commander of Akoko Edo Area Command.

The Non-Governmental Organization known as Akoko Edo Forum in the statement forwarded to Penpushing Media explained that the gesture was directed towards the welfare of officers of the command.

Penpushing further reports that Ifedayo Udiani, who led a team of seven members from the association ,to make the  presentation remarked that Akoko Edo Development Association was formed to address the neglect of Akoko Edo in all sectors.

The association reiterated that security is one of the cardinal areas of its focus, adding that as part of their genuine efforts to support security relevance, the body is already in discussions with relevant security outfits in the state

“We are currently in discussions with Edo State Vigilante Network and other groups like Amalgamated Afenmai Security group to ensure Akoko Edo security challenges are addressed”, the associations disclosed

Penpushing reports that, the group thanked the gallant efforts of Yusuf Suleiman and his personal involvement in leading operations to chase out kidnappers from the local government areas

The head of Akoko Edo Vigilante groups, Ibukun Dogo in his own remarks gave a glowing report of the support and synergy the Divisional Police Officer has provided to the vigilante group.

Penpushing further reports that, he thanked indigenes and residents of  Akoko Edo for their prayers and concerns exhibited following the  unfortunate incident, but however, emphasized the need for Edo State Government to support Akoko Edo Security Networks with equipment and stipends to complement other supports from stakeholders

The community leader who is also a member of the association Steve Dania in his contributions, pointed out the leadership quality of the Divisional Police Officer, who is known to be going on combined operations with his officers and the vigilante groups to tackle criminals which include kidnappers and other evil minded people

Penpushing reports that, the Area Commander in his response thanked the forum for the gestures, assuring that the State Commissioner of Police will be adequately informed of the donation and the synergy  between the police and the association

The police boss while affirming that Akoko Edo people are unique in supporting the command assured that police will reciprocate in providing adequate and reliable services in the community and environs

Penpushing further reports that, other members of the forum in attendance include: Ifedayo Udiani; Joshua Olorunfemi,  Steve Dania, P. K Moses, Alaba Lawani, Symperr Ray Festus and Ibukun Dogo
