Oke-Odan indigenes to converge on town for maiden annual anniversary, as Governors Abiodun, Sanwo-Olu billed to attend

The indigenes of Oke-Odan in Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State have concluded arrangements for the maiden edition of the annual anniversary of the town scheduled to hold between November 26 to December 2, 2023.

Penpushing reports that Chairman of the Planning Committee, Alhaji Ali Ajibode made this known at a press conference held on Thursday in the town, adding that the ceremony will involve indigenes in diaspora and at home

The Chairman disclosed that the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun and his counterpart in Lagos State, Jide Sanwo-Olu, would be attending the well designed and planned ceremony, which will further transform the town into world recognition.

Penpushing further reports Ajibode, a former commissioner in Ogun State traced the history of Oke-Odan to pre-1848 recalling that the town had survived two wars from the Dahomey Army, enthusing that the strength of the ancient town lies in intra-quarter bonding within the four regions of Ago-Eyo, Ago-Erinja, Ago-Ilobi and Ago-Ilaro.

The committee boss equally admitted that the reign of the traditional ruler of the town, Oba Oluwarotimi Fagbenro has brought lots of development into the town, as a renowned medical practitioner who ascended the throne of his forefathers.

‘The current pace of development in this town under our referred monarch is progressive to say the least. He mobilised all and sundry to build the Oke-Odan Grammar School, a Comprehensive health center is nearing completion and a court is being built’, he stated

The Chairman of the G-30 which spearheaded the upcoming festival, Otunba Yomi Oluyomi, in his own contributions at the press conference explained that infrastructural renewal of the town informed the conception of the festival.

‘The G-30 is leveraging on the inclination of the Kabiyesi as the leader of the Council of Chiefs think self-help even in partnership. We are considering fixing our bad roads which were hitherto good; we want to complete projects initiated by our Kabiyesi, engage in human capital development and lit the town all over,” Oluyomi stated.

Penpushing also reports that Oluyomi a seasoned financial expert recalled the frantic efforts of the royal father in ensuring establishment of a bank in the ancient town, and gave assurance of the G-30 support towards actualization of the dream

The Chairman of the group, however, admonished sons and daughters of the town to eschew bitterness and continue in the present new-found love amongst the people for overall good all residents of the town and environs.

Penpushing reports the   Oloke-Odan of Oke-Odan in his remarks advised policy formulators in the country on the need to adopt Community Development Associations (CDA), as the best way to drive national development.

The monarch, who led other leaders of the town to unveil mascot of the event and hoisting of the flag of the maiden Oke-Odan festival, said his experience as traditional ruler some decades ago informed his with development advisory to government to adopt Community Development Association (CDA).
