ARMY EMBARKS ON OGUN ROADS REPAIR

The Major General explained that the exercise was part of the civil – military palliative of Operation Crocodile Smile Exercise, pointing that the palliative would bring succour to road users and ease movement along the routes.

 “This (palliative) is a civil-military palliative to help our neighbours who are assisting us, to be able to move freely within our communities”, the army boss said

Penpushing further reports that ,he also appealed to the State Governor,  Dapo Abiodun to look into need in paying attention to many of the bad portions and roads across the state for repair in the interest of boosting  the socio-economic activities of the people of the area

His words, “We do sincerely hope that the governor who has the interest of the people at heart, who is focused, will look towards this direction and assist in fixing this road. In the long run, it shortens our time to react to issues if and when necessary”.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) used the opportunity to allay the fear of the people of the State over the commencement of “Operation Crocodile Smile iv”, assuring that the exercise was not to victimise the people.

Penpushing also reports that, Irefin explained that it was to protect them from criminals, especially during the festive period, stressing that the operation was meant to checkmate criminality and ensure residents go about their normal activities during the festive period unhindered.

He said, “Operation Crocodile Smile is an exercise designed by the military and other civil organisations in aid of civilian government, we want to ensure that during this festive period, every citizen is able to go about his/her normal business without interference from miscreants.”

“It (Operation Crocodile Smile) is to checkmate the activities of miscreants and criminals perpetrating all kinds of crime within Ogun State. The aim of the exercise is to check crimes and criminal activities and ensure that people are able to live, sleep and go about their normal businesses without interference.”

“Law abiding citizens have nothing to fear but if you are a miscreants or on the other side of the law, then be ready for us”, Irefin added.

The Spokesman of the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCEC), Jeje Peter in his remarks commended the Army for the laudable project, stating “The road is in a very bad condition and they (Army) have a programme, tagged Crocodile Smile to fight crime that is why they want the road passable so that it will be easier for them to fight crime.

“With the palliative measures, the Army would be able to fight crime, the major expenses were done by the military, we are just giving them the assistance to do the work”, he disclosed
