Activist arrested for raining curses on Tinubu, Egbetokun, Adejobi on facebook
An activist Olamide Thomas has been arrested by the police for raining curses on President Bola Tinubu and the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun as well as the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi.
Penpushing reports that Thomas, who is a nurse allegedly live-streamed video on her Facebook page on October,20, 2024 and cursed the trio, alleging that the police authorities brutalized her during a memorial procession of end police brutality protest in Lekki, Lagos State.
The lady who was arrest by the Lagos Police Command after being underground for sometime, has, however, as at the time of filing this report transferred to the cybercrime unit of the Federal Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja,
Penpushing further reports that sources said she was arrested in the early hours of Friday at home in Shomolu, Lagos State, and was denied administrative bail at Panti Police Station, Yaba, Lagos, before been flown to Abuja on Saturday.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, a superintendent of police, when contacted on Saturday neither confirmed nor denied the development, while as at the time of filing this report none of the police spokespersons at various levels confirmed it.
Penpushing also reports that in similar vein, Public Relations Officer of the Force Criminal Investigation Department FCID, Funmi Eguaoje, said she had no information about the case, but assured that as soon as she is aware of the development she would provide details.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, an Assistant Commissioner of Police could not be reached for comments, however, the suspect’s associates, Netufo Tomide, confirmed the development, adding that she has been moved to Abuja.
Penpushing reports that another activist Folayemi Akinfolarin equally confirmed the development, explaining that Thomas called her on the phone confirming her arrival in Abuja on Saturday in company of the police.
The suspect in the video that led to her arrest, expressed deep grievances, invoking divine power and issuing severe condemnations directed at Tinubu, Egbetokun, and Adejobi, as well as curses foretelling loss and tragedy against the trio.
Penpushing further reports that Thomas was arrested by operatives of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT), a special tactical squad that works under the Inspector General of Police, after her phone was tracked to her home.
Meanwhile, findings as at the time of filing this report indicated that the suspect will soon be arraigned in court for cyberstalking, offence known as a type of harassment that uses a computer to target individuals and considered criminal
