Abiodun Constitutes Pension Funds Management Committees
The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has constituted a 25-man Pension Funds Management Committees for the State and Local Government pensions, just as he commended the striking workers for exhibiting maturity

The statement added that the constituted two pivotal Pension Funds Management 25-man Committees—one for the State and the other for Local Government employees.

Penpushing also reports that Mabeweje explained that embedded in the committees’ mandate is the responsibility to provide professional oversight on the CPS, ensure strict adherence to PENCOM regulations, and monitor the activities of Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs) as well as Custodians (PFCs).
‘Beyond compliance, they are to serve as a bridge between policy and performance, by advising on risks, engaging external professionals when necessary, reviewing remittance schedules, and deepening civil servants’ understanding of their retirement benefits’, the statement reads.

The committee was constituted in accordance with Section 19, Paragraph 2 of the Ogun State Pension Reform Law of 2006, while the committees also emerge as a product of extensive consultation and negotiation with organized labour, culminating in the recent signing of a Memorandum of Action.

Historically, the state’s pension ecosystem has laboured under the weight of arrears, systemic delays, and the fiscal unpredictability of the old Defined Benefits Scheme’.

The statement said the Governor acknowledged this legacy and articulated his resolve to depart from that precedent., noting that the CPS, is designed to correct those distortions by embedding sustainability, fiscal discipline, and a future-facing investment outlook into the retirement framework.

The Governor said it was an act of patriotism and a reaffirmation of their faith in dialogue as a tool for institutional progress, stressing that his administration, does not treat labour as an antagonist but as a co-pilot in the journey toward shared prosperity under the Building Our Future Together Agenda.

The Chairman of the Local Government Pensions Committee, Engr. Olufisan Osiyale on behalf of the committees expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in them by the state government.
