Abeokuta Sports Club frontline member Somolu, dies
A frontline member of the popular social organization, Abeokuta Sports Club located in Government Reservation Area (GRA), Ibara axis of Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital Asiwaju Olufemi Somolu has been reported dead at 79.
Penpushing reports, Somolu, a former Chairman Portland Cement was said to have died shortly after he took his bath, and was said to be applying cream on his body while sitting on edge of his bed, when he suddenly slumped.
The source said the junior brother to the retired Chief Judge, Kayode Somolu was thereafter rushed to a private hospital located in Government Reservation Area (GRA),Ibara, Abeokuta, but all efforts to revive him, having placed him on oxygen proved abortive.
Penpushing further reports that, bosom friend of the deceased socialite, Chief Niyi Adegbenro confirmed the incident, expressing shock, having being together a day before the death, adding that there was no sign of death as at that time.
The Egba High Chief disclosed that, Somolu died on August 18, 2022, and could not believe his ears when he learnt of the sudden demise, as well as could not believe his eyes when he saw his remain in the hospital
Penpushing also reports that, Adegbenro as at the time of filing this report said the corpse had being deposited at the morgue of Sacred Heart Hospital, Lantoro, Abeokuta and will be conveyed to Lagos during the week.
The bereaved friend said, Somolu was in his private resident located at Olusegun ObasanjoPresidential Hiiltop, Oke-Mosan, in Abeokuta, when the incident occurred, explaining that he (Adegbenro) was on his way to a function when he got the sad news, and had to make a detour to the hospital,
Penpushing reports that he said his friend died at about 12pm on the said day, adding that he left behind a wife and three children, and that arrangements for the burial scheduled to hold on October, 2022 already ongoing
