Abducted wife of Zamfara state union leader gives birth in captivity
The wife of Sanusi Isa, the chairman of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees ((NULGE), who was abducted by gunmen on Tuesday from her residence located in Damba area of Zamfara State Capital, has given birth in captivity.
Penpushing reports that, the husband made this known on Thursday, adding that the bandits called him around 5 p.m. on Tuesday to tell him his wife,Ramatu Yunusa who was abducted with nine months pregnancy had given birth to a child.
“I was called with her phone because when they abducted her, they went with it. Around 5 p.m, I saw her calling coming and I thought it was about the ransom negotiations but when I answered, she told me that she has given birth to a baby girl a few minutes ago,” he said.
Penpushing further reports that, Isa explained that,after the call, and as at the time of filing this report, the bandits have not called back after delivering the news,adding that all efforts to reach them thereafter have being abortive.
The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees ((NULGE) boss, commended the security operatives in the state for what he called their efforts to save his wife,recalling that it took the bandits over 20minutes to break the gate to his before abducting his pregnant wife
Penpushing also reports that, Isa lamented that, when the bandits gained access to the house, they realized that his wife could not run because of her condition, seized the opportunity to abduct her, where the family member decided to lock her in a deserted toilet and fled.
“When they ransacked the house but they couldn’t find me, they decided to extend their search to other parts of the house and that was how they destroyed the toilet door and took her away. We know it’s from God and I believe I’ll emerge stronger after this trial’, he said.
‘There is nothing much to say but to thank God because as a Muslim, I believe that whatever happens to someone, it’s pre-ordained to occur, so there is nothing I can do about it,” he said” he emphasised.
