9 die, seven injured in Lagos-Abeokuta road crash
The fatal crash which occurred on Tuesday involving two vehicles, a black colour truck with no registration and white colour Mazda bus with registration SMK808YD, along Lagos-Abeokuta route claimed lives of nine persons and seven others sustaining various degree of injuries
Penpushing reports that Chief Route Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun State Command, Florence Okpe made this known in a statement explaining that accident occurred at about 8.00am
The route boss added that a total of 17 persons were involved which comprised of 7 male adult, 9 female adults and 1 female, stressing that suspected causes of the fatal crash were over-speeding and one-way (Route violation) that led to head on collision of the two vehicles.
Penpushing further reports that Okpe said the injured victims as at the time of filing this report were taken to General Hospital Ijaye, Abeokuta, while the corpses were deposited at Lantoro Hospital/ General Hospital, Ijaye Abeokuta.
The statement said the Sector Commander Anthony Uga cautioned motorists on route violation and excessive speed, pointing out the dangers associated with the two critical offences, and equally advised motorist to adhere to traffic rules and regulations.
