Penpushing further reports that in reaction to the police claim, stakeholders on Penpushing platform said they are amazed with the police submission, having not conducted full investigation, emphasizing that, that was a premature conclusion.

The stakeholders who knows the deceased very well, posited and lamented in their various post of reactions that, Adeleye cannot abruptly terminated his life, and also called on media to beam searchlight on the untimely death, to get to the root of the sad incident which caught many people in surprise

“I am still amazed on why Segun did this. He was a cerebral colleague of over 2 decades and I know him to be comfortable, so why suicide. Am not yet convinced. God knows better. Alani, as I used to call him rest in perfect peace”, Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji wrote.

“Ah! Suicide? This is unbelievable”, Dayo Da-Silva lamented

“Whatever is hidden is open to God! I am more than amazed”, Bimbo Alagbe stated

“Highly shocking! Thorough Investigative journalism is highly needed in a pathetic case like this. The family and friends should be able to recall his last activities before the dastardly act”, Bayo Sobande added

“Oh my “boy”, my trainee, my paddy, my “son”! My Alani is gone! Quite sad! Why did you do this Segun? Why? You should have told me as your “father” (at least I stood in as father to you in Ijebu Ode almost 20 yrs ago to meet your in-law for Taiwo: with Kunle – just three of us)! I drove that day, back and forth to meet the Gbagbas! Indeed, it’s a unique memory that can never be obliterated in my archival cocoon. But, this is unfair Sege! Drops of water flow from my eye balls as I type this message at 03.25am because my mind was heavy! Your type of exit, as a matter-of-factly, is debilitatingly worrisome! Why didn’t you reply or talk to me last Sunday when I texted you – as my mind was with you for the past one week after our prayer messages on December 31, 2024 with yours at exactly 23:32hr – few minutes into Year 2025? Apparently, in my sub-conscious spiritual mind, I knew something was wrong, especially constantly seeing figure 3.25 (March, 2025). And I discussed you with my spouse on Monday and agreed to call you this week, only to learn a day after you were dead. And, unfortunately, reading this sempiternal sad news in The Punch weakened me to a bunch of unquestionable sober “Punch(y)” questions!. Segunnn…again, you should have replied my text or call me on Sunday when I texted you to discuss what’s on your mind! Iya Onijogi of Oke Odan wouldn’t like this, Sege mi Alani. Whao! This is a painful exit that shocked me beyond my comprehension in this pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis clime that I live. However, may your soul rest in perfect peace and I, on behalf of my family, particularly my Deaconess (Mama Diakoni like you often called her) and children who knew you and were shocked to learn of your demise, plead (and beg) God profusely to forgive you your deliberate and unconscious sins. Amen”,Femi Shodunke wrote.

“The quickness of the police to come to a conclusion of suicide is quite worrying. No such pronouncements should be made without an autopsy. At best what the Police should be saying is that foul play is not suspected at this time, but that investigations are ongoing. The media should also do better at pushing back — has anybody asked the Police on what basis they’ve come to this premature conclusion? I’m not saying it isn’t suicide, it could very well be, but the way this is being handled is quite worrying, to say the least”, Tolu Ogunlesi reacted

“Segun?. Committed suicide? Well, whatever is hidden in the circumstances of his death is known to God… the All Knowing. May God be merciful on his soul. SAD!!!”, Sefiu Opebiyi lamented

“An inquest must determine if it is a suicide or murder! Nothing about Segun suggests that he will commit suicide! I am beyond devastated. Segun had enough goodwill that he could have tapped on. Ogun State Police must unravel the circumstances. If there is no water in his lungs then he didn’t drown, if there is evidence of poison it will show, if it is by strangulation it will show if there are impact wounds it will show. It is madness and irresponsible to jump into conclusions. Oma se o. Asegeee how could you possibly have killed yourself? I have gone through your wall to see from your writings if anything can be a clue the last you posted was for some guy whom you likened to Sen Kaka and Sen Yayi in his giving back to his alma mata. Sometimes in January, I found it strange that you wrote nothing for more than two months. O dun mi gan ni o. Going forward we need to be checking on ourselves. It was not my habit to check on you but I always promptly responded to you, you are no beggarly person, and you were no irritant. Alaniiiii whyyyyy. May your creator forgive you, and may He have mercy on your soul”, Segun Showunmi stated

“This reported mode of Segun’s death is just quite shocking. What could he be going through that committing suicide will be the next option. Quite unfortunate. May he find rest with the Lord”, Siji Oyesile wrote.

“I have not experienced any issues or situations in recent times that threw me into confusion like this death. I saw a post in FB by a friend of Segun mourning his passing, and I read another tribute by Yinka of Tribune. However, I have never connected the death to the story in Punch until I started reading comments on this platform. Now, I have just summoned courage to read the report in Punch newspaper. This is heavy news to bear for any conscientious person who knows Segun. He was a great person. During my period in the Ogun State Government, Segun was one of the most honest people I encountered. He had his position on issues, but he would come clean on it to you, and if you could appeal to his conscience, he would always be sympathetic and showed understanding. He loved Ogun State to bits and was committed to the development of the state. I am so sorry about his passing, particularly the controversy around it. I concur with the submission of some of the people here by calling for thorough, honest, and transparent police investigation into what happened. From what I have read, there is still no basis for any conclusion. No eyewitness. No suicide note. No prior signs of depression. The investigation should not be delayed. Ogun NUJ and other bodies should make their stand clear to the Police and get them to get cracking. ACP Muyiwa Adejobi should please help us take up this matter. Very sad. Indeed, it’s very sad. May Allah take care of the family Shege left behind”, Yusuph Olaniyonu reacted

“Always Sympathetic is just the best word to describe egbon Segun Adeleye. May God forgive his sins and grant him eternal rest”, Tunde Adeyem wrote.
