7th national assembly senators create platform to discuss country’s developmental growth
The 7th national assembly senators have resolved to provide a platform to share opinion and have a moderating voice on the affairs of the country towards promoting non partisan development of Nigeria as well as lending collective voice towards united Nigeria.
Penpushing reports that the Senators made this known in a communiqué issued after their inaugural meeting held on Wednesday in Abuja, chaired by the former President of the Senate, David Mark, and also had in attendance President of the 8th Senate Bukola Saraki, Senator Atiku Bagudu, now Governor of Kebbi State, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, Deputy President of the 6th, 7th and 8th Senate, Senator Jibrila Bindow, former Governor of Adamawa State, amongst others
The communiqué signed by Senator (Dr) Ita Enang, Senator Gbenga Obadara and Senator Zainab Kure posited that all hands must be on deck to work for economic stability and political development of Nigeria, as well as unity, pointing out that the convocation came at the right time
Penpushing further reports that the communiqué, emphasised that the former federal lawmakers should ensure that the country is devoid of political party leanings towards the aims and objectives of the platform, calling on need for the body to support the Nigerian government at all levels irrespective of political parties to ensure harmony in Nigeria as the nation works towards the 2023 elections.
The meeting also resolved that Mark on behalf of the 7th Senate and other Senate leaderships should convoke a meeting of all Senators in Nigeria for the purpose of having a forum where all the Senators in Nigeria should gather, share opinion and have a moderating voice on the affairs of the nation towards promoting non partisan development of Nigeria.
Penpushing also reports that the communiqué emphasised and called for lending collective voice towards one country, and that a Steering Committee be raised to have a follow up and perfection of the resolutions without further delay
