65-year-old pastor arraigned for allegedly defiling 10-year-old girl
A 65-year-old cleric, Francis Ogu, who resides at Umuike village in Awka, Anambra state was on Wednesday arraigned in the Children, Sexual and Gender-based Violence Offences Court for allegedly defiling his 10-year-old domestic worker.
Penpushing reports that the prosecution counsel, Chinyere Okechukwu, a police inspector, told the court that the accused committed the offence on June 27, 2024 at his residence by sexually exploiting the minor
The prosecutor explained that the offence, contravened the provisions of Section 35(2) of the Child Rights Laws of Anambra State, 2004, but the accused at the arraignment, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Penpushing further reports that Chief Magistrate Genevieve Osakwe in her ruling admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N500,000 with one surety in like sum, and thereafter adjourned the case until August 21, 2024 for a hearing.
