51 persons injured in Kano state tanker explosion
Fifty-one persons have sustained injuries in a fuel tank explosion which occurred late Saturday at a filling station, while the tanker was offloading the inflammable substance in Sharada in Kano metropolis of Kano State
Penpushing reports that, Kano State Commissioner for Works, Garba Idris, confirmed the ugly development and blamed the management of the station for violating procedure of offloading the substance.
The Commissioner faulted the decision of the management of the filling station for allowing offloading fuel in day time despite the scorching sun, which he pointed out that it was against the law.
“Everybody knows it is against the law to offload the substance in the hot weather like that of Kano, which was responsible for the explosion.The fire disaster affected 51 persons, including eight officials of the fire service’, Idris said.
Penpushing further reports that the Public Relations Officer of the Federal Fire Service in Kano State, Nura Maigida, in his reaction, while equally confirming the incident said the agency was investigating the cause of the fire.
