45-years after establishment, Ogun State House of Assembly enjoys major transformation, wears new look
The Ogun State Government has transformed the House of Assembly to a more befitting status, 45 years after its establishment, with major renovation exercise carried out, a development which now attracts global attention.
Penpushing reports that the House of Assembly on its establishment had a former military administrator Brigadier H.O.D Egbhagha who commemorated the laying of the foundation in 1979, a project handled by the architects of the Ogun State Ministry of Works and Housing.
The assembly has not enjoyed a befitting outlook for number of years, as many of the facilities and equipment became obsolete, while it was recalled that at a time the roofing of the chambers was profusely licking, an ugly development which always affect legislative work, particularly during raining season.
Penpushing further reports that the misfortune condition of the entire complex, however, received the attention of the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun who decided to turn around the complex to better shape with a major renovation.
The findings showed that the massive renovation of the complex which is equally extended to all department which include the hallow chambers, media gallery, individual offices of the lawmakers, as well as other offices.
Penpushing also reports that state of the art facilities provided as phase lift of the assembly include new set of befitting chairs, microphones for the use of the lawmakers during session, other electronic gadgets, as well as projector, while the floor designed with durable tiles.
The investigation equally showed that the entire complex now enjoys massive lighting, which is more pronounced at night, while in similar vein, horticultural design has been provided to make the complex more attractive
Penpushing reports all lawmakers can now boast of toilet attached to each of their offices, unlike before now, when they shared same toilet, and similarly the conference room was not left out in the major renovation
The earlier scheduled budget presentation for last week Friday, will now be held Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at the chambers of the House of Assembly, to be presented by Governor Dapo Abiodun to the lawmakers.
Penpushing further reports that the Clerk/Head of Legislative Service, Sakiru Adebakin made this known in a statement, adding that the budget presentation, which would be the second in the Governor’s second term, would be a twin celebration, as he would take advantage of his visit to commission the newly redesigned Assembly Complex.
The statement stated that the redesigning process saw the 45-year-old complex giving way to a modern structure that could match any legislative complex across the world, adding that the presentation is scheduled to hold 10am
