21 bodies recovered from Lagos collapsed building
Twenty bodies buried under the rubble after a 21-storey building collapsed on Monday on Gerard Road in the Ikoyi part of Lagos State have been recovered, as at Tuesday evening
Penpushing reports that the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) confirmed this, as the Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Sanwo-Olu ordered suspension of the General Manager of the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) Gbolahan Oki.
The Lagos State Government on Tuesday deployed more equipment and manpower to the scene of the incident, to compliment the Monday efforts to recover about fifty people said to have been trapped.
Penpushing further reports that, the suspended General Manager on Monday said the collapsed building only got approval for 15 floors, while the owner embarked on 21 floors, a claim the Deputy Governor,Obafemi Hamzat refuted insisting that the government gave approval for the construction of a 21-storey building.
