
2027 race: Iyabo Obasanjo holds private meeting with Tinubu, as Yayi denies interest in governorship race
A governorship aspirant under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) Ogun State ahead of 2027 race, Senator Iyabo Obasanjo, has met with President Bola Tinubu, just as a rumoured Governorship aspirant Senator Solomon Adeola ordered his supporters to desist from any campaign billboards suggesting that he is interested in the race.
Penpushing reports that Obasanjo, eyeing the Oke-Mosan Governor’s Office in Abeokuta had a close door meeting with Tinubu at his private residence in Lagos, but details of the meeting of the duo was not made public.
The female aspirant is currently on proactive consultations across all local government areas of the state to garner support from leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for her governorship ambition.

Penpushing further reports that Obasanjo, a medical doctor and former Commissioner for Health in Ogun State, in same vein extended her consultations to traditional rulers across the state
The academic with international experience had previously represented Ogun Central Senatorial District in the Senate, and is equally working round the clock as the contest gradually gathers momentum
Penpushing also reports that on her visit to the President, she explained that the meeting was insightful and forward-looking, focusing on leadership, governance and the ongoing development of Ogun State and the country.
‘I sincerely thank the President for his time, wisdom and his lasting commitment to strengthening our democracy and supporting the next generation of leaders. As we continue consultations ahead of 2027, I remain committed to serving with integrity, experience and a people-centered approach. The journey continues with purpose, clarity and enduring dedication to Ogun State’, she stated.

Penpushing reports that, however, in a related development Adeola, popularly called Yayi in a statement called on his teeming supporters to stop the erection of campaign billboards and posters seeking support for his 2027 governorship ambition
The Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District at the national assembly in the statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Chief Kayode Odunaro explained that he has not declared his intention to contest for the governorship seat of the state,
“The attention of Senator Solomon Adeola (APC, Ogun West) has been drawn to the erection of numerous campaign billboards and posters being erected and posted by supporters seeking support for his aspiration in the race towards Ogun State governorship in 2027’, the statement reads.
‘I have been informed of the sighting of billboards and posters erected by supporters and groups in parts of the state soliciting support for my aspiration for Ogun 2027. As a loyal party man fully cognisant of the process and relevant tradition of the progressive family for the last 35 years, I am yet to declare my intention’, he said
“While appreciating their love and belief in his capacity to effectively hold the exalted position of governor, the senator called on his supporters to draw caution in their enthusiasm as the process for full blown campaign and timetable for the party’s primary is not out yet”, it added
