I will want to partner media if elected governor, says Adebutu

The Governorship Candidate of Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), in Ogun State Hon Ladi Adebutu has assured better media relationship if elected into office as Governor in the Saturday elections.
Penpushing reports that Adebutu made the pledge during media party with Journalists in the state held at Park Inn Hotel located along Presidential Boulevard on Thursday in Abeokuta, stressing that he believes as fourth estate of the realm, members of the profession should be duly accorded recognition.
“I believe if the three aim of government are fully funded, there is nothing stopping the fourth arm, which is the media shouldn’t be funded for optimal productivity. I give you my words. If we get to the government, you will have good access to me. At least we can have relationship that will be better for all in the State”, he stated.
The former federal lawmaker called on members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ) to partner with him in jointly moving the state to greater height if eventually elected as the Governor of the state, stressing that there is going to be a recognition
Penpushing further reports that Adebutu frowned at the proposed state police, noting that the country is not ripe to that stage, emphasising that some Governors will misused the opportunity by descending on the oppositions at will
” Also, there is going to be a recognition in all aspects of government. I hereby implore you; let us be partners. The idea of state police cannot get the desire results. Nigerian society is not ripe yet for the idea of state police on combating insecurity. The idea of state Police cannot work in our society today”, he emphasized.
Penpushing also reports that he commended Journalists for adequate and effective reportage of the previous elections, stressing that they should beam their searchlight on any politicians and stakeholders found wanting during Governorship and Assembly poll on Saturday.
The Chairman Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ) Wale Olanrewaju in his speech expressed appreciation to Adebutu for deeming it fit to meet with the union and used the occasion in  urging him to bridge the gap between the media and the government if elected.
Penpushing reports that Olanrewaju explained that the political crisis within the union had been laid to rest, stressing that  members are more united with focus to uplift the profession to greater height.
“Today, I want to emphatically say that in the Ogun state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, there is no factions. We are one, indivisible group having same goal”, he explained.
“Yes, we may have been bedeviled with leadership crisis for almost 4 years but on Thursday, 22nd December, 2022 I was overwhelmingly elected as the Chairman of the council, with my other exco members here present. So, whoever is feeding you with lies about a factionalized NUJ, the truth is here today”, Olanrewaju said
