African Cup of Nations Finals: Elephants march on Eagles to lift trophy

The host country of the 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Cote d’Ivoire on Sunday forced their Nigerian counterpart to succumb to defeat with a 2-1 victory to lift the trophy at the finals of the championship.

Penpushing reports that Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire came from a goal down in the final match to score two goals from Franck Kessie and Sebastien Haller and succeeded in caging the Super Eagles at the end of the globally watched championship

The captain of Super Eagles, William Troost-Ekong, had in the first half of the game succeeded to  put his team ahead in the first half from a corner kick, while the Elephants rose up to the task in the second half of the match with two goals

Penpushing further reports that the Nigerian Soccer squad were dominated throughout the encounter, while it was equally observed that number of the players known to have performed creditably well in the tournament were seen not to be in their best all through the final
