2019: CARRY FIREARMS AND GO TO JAIL, POLICE TELL POLITICIANS
The Inspector General represented by the Deputy Inspector General of Police, in charge of South-West, Oshodi Glover Agboola said directive for the implementation of robust, adequate security and safety during rallies and campaign towards the general election in Ogun State had been issued out.
He disclosed that there would be a massive deployment of policemen to strategic areas to curb public disturbance, inter party afflictions, intimidation, stigmatisation of political rallies, just as he charged politicians to desist from political thuggery, intimidation and acts that can jeopardize or cause hullabaloo in the state.
He emphasised that Police will arrest any politicians engaging in display of firearms, dangerous weapon and any forms of violence during the election periods adding that there would be groups of maximum cooperation on the side of the police to ensure free, and fair election.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Ogun State, represented by James Oludele Popoola, the Commission’s Administrative Secretary expressed readiness of the commission towards the forthcoming general election.
He disclosed that the commission cannot be separated from the police as they work hand in hand to make the forthcoming election peaceful.
On his part, Chairman, Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC),Alhaji Ibraheem Olaniyan charged the Police to provide adequate resources to combat crimes in the country, and also pleaded with politicians to work hand in hand with the police in order to ensure that peace reign in Ogun State during the rallies and election period.
Penpushing further reports that, the Chairman of, the Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Ogun State, Abayomi Arabambi assured the police of maximum cooperation during and after election periods.
