121 POLICE OFFICERS TO FACE ORDERLY ROOM TRIAL FOR DESERTING TRAINING CAMP

It is recalled that, Penpushing had earlier reported the protest and desertion of the officers, who after completion of their training, were deployed to tackle the activities of the Boko Haram in the North-East of the country, but kicked against the deployment.

The Force Public Relations Officer Jimoh Moshood vehemently denied the story, which added that, the officers as at the time of desertion risked mutiny trial, even with evidences that support the report as at that time.

However, in a recent development, an order by the Inspector General of Police, signed on his behalf by Assistant Commissioner of Police, Suleimaan Zubairu indicated that, a Chief Superintendent of Police has been instructed to convene the trial.

The signal also emphasized that, the affected personnel involved in mutinous conduct, public disturbance, discreditable conduct, absence from duty and desertion, contrary to Police Act and regulations, section 359 laws of the Federation.

Penpushing also reports that, the signal  which part of it was captioned, ‘Daily Instruction/Orders’ said,’ Sub No 1; Orderly Room Trial: The following  under listed Inspectors/Rank and file herewith published for orderly room trial for charges of mutinous conduct, inciting, disturbance, discreditable conduct, absence from duty, desertion and acts unbecoming of an officer, all contrary to offences against discipline contrary to first schedule of police regulating(A)(E)(F), 389(1) and 370(A)  Police Act and regulation CAP 359 Laws of the Federation’

Penpushing further investigation revealed that, as at the time the signal was issued out, all the affected officers have been ordered to surrender the rifles and other ammunitions, which had already being retrieved by the police authorities.

Similarly, all the officers have being ordered to report to their various commands for the trial, as at the time of filing this report
