You are telling lies, I surrendered myself for interrogation, but asked to leave, Yahaya Bello tells crimes commission

The Former Governor of Kogi State Yahaya Bello has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of telling lies that he did not surrender himself for interrogation on Wednesday to the commission.

Penpushing reports that the aide of the embattled Bello in a statement which was second to be issue on his appearance at the commission headquarters emphasized that he (Bello) was accompanied by his successor, Governor Usman Ododo.

The aide, Ohiare Michael in the statement claimed that on arrival at the headquarters of the commission in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) said rather than interrogate him (Bello), he was asked to take his leave, stressing that such order was not yet clear to him

‘The EFCC did not, however, interrogate him as officials told him he could leave. We don’t know what this means yet. As we write, HE Alhaji Yahaya Bello has left the EFCC office. He was accompanied there by the Governor of Kogi State, HE Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo’, the statement read

Penpushing further reports that the former governor, who is currently facing N80. 2billion fraud allegation was declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) which lasted for about five months

Meanwhile, it is recalled that few hours after Bello’s first statement declaring that he honoured the commission’s “invitation” was reported by several news outlets on Wednesday, the crimes commission issued a terse statement to deny having him in their custody.
