Women affairs ministry seeks synergy on quality healthcare for orphanages

The Ogun State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development has sought the support and collaboration of the State Hospital, Ijaye for more incentives on medication administered to children in orphanage homes.

Penpushing reports that Commissioner in the Ministry, Hon. Adijat Adeleye-Oladapo gave this indication during a courtesy visit to the State Hospital, Ijaye, Abeokuta, adding that the gestures should also be extended to victims of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and rehabilitation centres in the delivery of quality healthcare services to them.

The Commissioner emphasized that the ties became necessary to enable children in government orphanages and rehabilitation centres to have prompt access to health services as a means of social welfare.

Penpushing further reports that she noted that facilities under the Ministry in the past years had benefited from the healthcare services of the hospital, stating that the Ministry was determined to establish a mutual relationship with the hospital in consonance with achieving social welfare and well-being, as well as maintaining a healthy society for the growth of the State and the country at large.

‘I can say that the Ministry has benefitted from your different services to the homes and rehabilitation centres under it, we cannot have enough of your support and we also want you to put in human face, that is why we seek for more in the aspect of incentive on medication for us to be able to give the needed care and support for our children and victims of Gender-Based Violence”, she added.

Penpushing also reports that Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs. Melutia Ogunremi in her remarks appreciated the management of the hospital, saying it had evolved with improved qualitative healthcare with efficient medical personnel in different fields, who have been providing selfless service and care to build a healthy society.

The Chief Medical Director of the Hospital, Dr. Bunmi Osinaike in response advised the Ministry to enroll children in homes and rehabilitation centres under the Ministry into the State Health Insurance Agency (OGSHIA) for them to have access and benefit from the scheme, thereby reducing the financial burden on the Ministry while providing social welfare services.

Penpushing reports that Osinaike assured of continued delivery of healthcare and social services in line with the state health policy to provide qualitative and affordable secondary healthcare services to the immediate community, adding that the hospital is ready to collaborate with the Ministry with the aim of improving social well-being of the society.
