Woman sells two stolen children for N60,000
The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a suspected child thief, Adeola Omoniyi resident of Ilutitun, Okeasa Street of the town who sold the victims at N60,000
Penpushing reports that the Command Public Relations Officer, Funmilayo Odunlami who confirmed the incident and arrest of the suspect, said she equally confessed selling the minors at N30,000 each,adding that she was arrested on July 1, 2022, in Ore, while attempting to make away with a five-year-old child.
The police spokesperson, said the minor lives with her grandmother and was sent on errand when the suspect accosted her, and was taking her away, but neighbours who recognized the innocent child rescued her and raised alarm which subsequently led to the arrest of the suspect
“A grandmother sent her granddaughter, Precious Aje ‘female’ 5years, on errand and on her way she was accosted by one Adeola Omoniyi ‘female’ of Ilutitun, Okeasa Street, held her and was taking her away but for the neighbours who recognized the child and raised the alarm before she was rescued,” she said.
Penpushing further reports that, in a similar development the command a woman who was caught while attempting to escape with a three-year-old she stole in Ikare Aloko was apprehended and the custody of the police as at the time of filing this report
The police disclosed that Ade Bamitale on July 6 at Ikare-Akoko left the child in her shop to buy some toiletries, but before she came back, the 23 year old suspect,Aanu Afolabi, went into the shop and carried the little girl on her back,but as she was about to cross the road, she was hit by a motorcyclist.
“While the motorcyclist and people around were trying to help her, one of the sympathisers realize the child she was carrying belongs to her neighbour and raised alarm,” Odunlami said.
Penpushing also reports that the police in a statement said in the course of further enquiry an android phone and a bucket were found in the possession of the alleged child thief
