Veteran Broadcast journalist, Toyin Gbadebo dies
A veteran broadcast journalist and retired Deputy General Manager, Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation (OGBC) Prince Toyin Gbadebo popularly called ‘Gbadeh’ has been reported dead on Tuesday night following a sudden cardiac arrest at his private residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital.
Penpushing reports that Gbadebo known to be bubbling with life all time, was rushed to the hospital, and later confirmed dead, a sad development which was unbelievable to thousands of friends, colleagues and family members as the news spread like wildfire.
The deceased was still at a function over the weekend and his presence ignited loud ovation from the guests and colleagues, who royally and in excitement welcome him to the venue because of his known love for everybody he has contact with
Penpushing further reports that as at Monday morning the known proactive media practitioner and lovable personality, still sent a prayer message to Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji, Founder of Penpushing Media which reads, ’Happy Start of the Week. May this Monday Be the Beginning of a Week Filled with Success and Positivity’
The founder of the media outlet reacting to demise of Gbadebo, said he still find it difficult to believe, adding that he(Kayode-Adedeji) was still with him(Gbadebo) at a function over the weekend and as usual he was bubbling with life.
‘I find it difficult to believe, as at Monday morning Gbadeh still sent a prayer message to me through my WhatsApp contact. Infact, we are still together at a function over the weekend, and as usual threw banters at me. At the function when I announced that I just clocked 61, in response he said he would soon clock 68.
‘It never occurred to me that, that would be the last time I will see him alive. When the sad news first came to me, I thought it was a joke, until when I called his phone and there was no prompt response as usual. This is painful and sad’, Kayode-Adedeji lamented
Penpushing also reports that the General Manager of the Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation (OGBC), Toyin Sogbesan confirmed the sad news describing the death as both shocking and sad, especially considering the fact that he was bubbling with life until he breathed his last
‘The Management of the Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation has mourned the passage of a retired Deputy General Manager in the Corporation, Prince Toyin Gbadebo who died on Tuesday night’, the statement reads.
‘The news of the death of one of our finest, an iconic Broadcaster, Prince Toyin Gbadebo came to me as a rude shock and I still find it difficult to accept the fact that Gbadeh as we fondly called him was no more’, Sogbesan wrote
‘News of the death of the iconic broadcaster filtered in late Tuesday evening and left many people surprised as he was still with members of staff few days and full of life. He is one person that is down to earth and very jovial and lively. OGBC has lost one of its brightest and finest. We are consoled that he lived a fulfilled and impactful life, the statement added.
Penpushing reports that Sogbesan as at the time of filing this report led the management team of the Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation (OGBC) on condolence visit to the family to identify with them in this moment of grief.
