TWO MOTORISTS JAILED FOR ASSAULTING TRACE CORPS OPERATIVES
Penpushing recalled that, accused persons initially pleaded not guilty to the five count charges but later admitted guilt, after realising the gravity of the offence committed and pleaded for leniency. However, the sentence would run concurrently.
The Commander of the Agency, Olaseni Ogunyemi while reacting to the judgment, expressed delight that justice has finally been done as this would serve as a deterrent to the motoring public, who are fond of attacking, assaulting and embarrassing the road officials.
Ogunyemi further used the opportunity to assure all the officers and men of TRACE Corps of their safety and lawful protection at all times, while on legitimate duty, just as he encouraged them to also be civil, polite, courteous and approachable, while on duty.
