Trailer transporting onions kills 13, 40 injured in road crash
A trailer transporting passengers and onions from Kano on Friday collided with an oncoming vehicle at MRS Filling Station on Ahmadu Bello Way in the Kaduna metropolis resulting in the death of 13 persons and 40 others sustaining injuries.
Penpushing reports that the Kaduna State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kabir Nadabo, who confirmed the crash which occurred at about 11.00pm blamed overspeeding and overloading for the incident.
The Sector Commander who participated in the rescue and clearance efforts, explaining that 60 persons were affected by the accident, adding that as at the time of filing this report the injured were taken to Barau Dikko Specialist Hospital in the city.
Penpushing further reports that Nadabo stated that the driver of the trailer fled after the accident assuring that efforts were being made to identify him and the vehicle’s owner as at the time of filing this report
