Traditional rulers summon meeting over invasion of bandits in community
The traditional rulers in Awowo and Akinale communities located in Ewekoro Local Government area of Ogun State have conveyed an emergency meeting to unravel suspected bandits alleged to have kidnapped a farmer and killed his staff in Awowo community.
Penpushing reports that, the outcome of the meeting was the deployment of over 300 local hunters and vigilante to the forest in the affected communities to fish out the suspected criminals believed to be operating cells in the forest
The source in the villages disclosed that within the last one week, the suspected bandits had unleashed terror in the communities resulting in the kidnapped of a local farmer and killing of his staff in Awowo.
Penpushing further reports that, the alleged criminals described as ruffians also entered the ancient town of Akinale and ransacked a popular restaurant on the Lagos- Abeokuta road in Akinale where they carted away both cooked and uncooked foodstuff, assorted drinks and other valuables.
‘The intensive search becomes necessary as the seeming dangerous people had unleashed terror in the vicinity since weekend as they kidnapped a local farmer and killed his staff in Awowo;, a villager said.
‘As the tongue wagged in bewilderment on the incidence, the ruffians entered the ancient town of Akinale and ransacked a popular restaurant on the Lagos- Abeokuta road in Akinale and carted away both cooked and uncooked foodstuff, assorted drinks and other valuables;, a resident stated.
Penpushing also reports that, the source said as at the time of filing this report, a team of police led by the Divisional Police Officer in Ewekoro joined hands with the local hunters in search of the hoodlums who remain hidden in various hideouts in the forest.
