Traditional ruler engages community youths in street fight

The traditional ruler of Igbedu town located in Ewekoro local government of Ogun State, Oba Mathew Ajibulu on Friday threw morals into the wind as he openly engaged youths of community in a street brawl

Penpushing reports that the royal father sighted in a video which has gone viral, was in fez cap, T-shirt and jean trouser engaged in verbal fight with the youths who openly replied him, while the development later transformed into physical attacks between him and the subjects

The monarch was equally sighted in the video running after the youths and in the process held one of them who he tore his clothes and rained abusive words which the restless youths also in return insulted him publicly

Penpushing further reports that many of the youths were heard condemning style of administration of monarch in the town, alleging him of number of illegalities in his domain, which they claimed include land matters.

The traditional ruler it is recalled was installed in December 2010 under controversial circumstances after the late Olowu of Owu had crowned Alhaji Yekini Akinmade, a petroleum marketer as monarch of the ancient town

Penpushing also reports that number of residents of the town in an interview condemned the actions of the royal father, pointing out that it was desecration of traditional stool, adding that as a monarch he is expected to resolve issues.

‘This is desecration of traditional stool as Oba fights in public, spraying some substance unidentified on his opponents. It is debased for a traditional ruler who should sit in his palace and settle disputes to throw the town into disrepute by fighting in the public’ a resident said

‘One Oba in the same axis fought with a Baale in the public few years ago and both Baale and the Oba were suspended by the Ogun State Government. This one is even worse, ridiculous and uncalled for’, the resident added
