Tinubu to wade into Akeredolu, Aiyedatiwa crisis over ailment

The Nigeria’s President and leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Bola Tinubu has waded into the Ondo State political crisis involving Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and his Deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, which also spread to the House of Assembly

Penpushing reports that following the ugly development which is said to be fallout of ailment of the Governor, sources disclosed that the President will be meeting with Aiyedatiwa, members of the House of Assembly and other key stakeholders at the presidential villa, in Abuja.

The sources added that among the stakeholders who left Akure, the state capital on Friday for the proposed meeting include commissioners and leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

Penpushing further reports that findings showed that notable personalities across the South-West region had appealed to Tinubu to intervene in the protracted crisis in the state that arose from the incapacitation of Akeredolu as a result of his ill health.

The Ondo State House of Assembly is said to be divided over the issue with 11 of them said to be in support of declaring Governor Akeredolu as incapacitated and Aiyedatiwa as the Acting Governor of the state.

Penpushing also reports that in contrary, loyalists of Akeredolu in the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the State Executive Council were as of Friday demanding the resignation of Aiyedatiwa, to pave the way for the Speaker of the House to become acting governor.

The Akeredolu loyalists posited that elevating Aiyedatiwa to the position would amount to rewarding him for disloyalty to his principal, but acknowledged that they do not have the number in the state legislature to force the removal of the Deputy Governor from office.
