Three Oodua Peoples Congress members detained by Oyo State Police released on bail

Three members of Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) detained by the Oyo State Police Command over the arrest of Fulani warlord, Iskilu Wakili, who have been allegedly terrorizing the people of Ibarapa land have been released on bail.

Penpushing reports that they were released on Tuesday from the police custody at Iyaganku police station around 5.40pm,while source said their release was sequel to the intervention of the Oyo State government and the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams.

.The trio were released in the presence of State Coordinator of Odua Peoples Congress(OPC) in Oyo State, Comrade Rotimi Oguntunde a.k.a. Olumo, Special Adviser to Oyo State Governor on Culture and Tourism, Hon. Ademola Akeem Ige and the congress lawyer.

Penpushing further reports that while speaking shortly after their release, the Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Aderemi, said the detention of the three gallant men became public issue because of the circumstances surrounding the  arrest and detention of the members, as well as the notorious kidnapper Wakili.

“It is most important news is that the police had released our men in their custody, and it is great. I want appreciate everybody that have raised their voices against the unjust detention, including well meaning Nigerians, public opinion experts, socio-cultural groups, such as Afenifere, Yoruba Summit Group (YSG) and the media for their support while the situation last’,

‘I want assure Nigerians that the OPC will continue to support and complement  the efforts of all security agencies, including the police in ensuring that the south west is safe” Adams said.

Penpushing also reports that, it is recalled  that Iskilu Wakili was captured alongside three others in Igangan after several attempts and the three detained Odua Peoples Congress(OPC) members, Dauda Kazeem, Awodele Adedigba and Ramon Hassan were detained on Sunday, shortly after the congress handed over the alleged dreaded kidnap kingpin to the police.
