Terrorists steal gun trucks, kill seven in attack on Nigerian military base

Suspected members of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) have attacked a military base in the Marte Local Government Area of Borno State, and equally stole three-gun trucks.

Penpushing reports that sources said the terrorists stormed the base on Monday afternoon and outgunned the soldiers resulting in the death of seven, however, as at the time of this report the military authorities yet to confirm the attack.

The sources which include a local media outfit, cited their sources as Civilian Joint Task Force members, adding that during the attack the terrorists seized three-gun trucks and 70 motorcycles intended for counter-terrorism operations and set the military base ablaze.

Penpushing further reports that a video circulated on social media shows bodies covered with leaves and colleagues trying to identify the dead, while local authorities expressed fear that the  looted motorbikes and trucks could aid the terrorists mobility.

Meanwhile, records showed that Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) a splinter group of Boko Haram, has increased attacks on military and civilian targets in recent months.
