TECHNICAL EDUCATION BOARD COMMENDS IBADAN POLYTECHNIC FOR TRAINING OF TECHNICAL EXPERTS

The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has commended The Polytechnic, Ibadan for its contributions towards the training of technical experts who are making waves in various spheres of human endeavour.

Penpushing reports that the leader of the board, Mr Fidelis Ogbonna, who is currently in the institution for the accreditation of 13 programmes run by 11 departments in the institution, made the commendation during the visitation by the team.

The institution was described as a foremost Polytechnic held in high esteem by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), the regulatory body for polytechnics and other technical institutions in the country.

“For 50 years, The Polytechnic Ibadan has been consistent in academic excellence, contributing to the training of technical experts making waves in various spheres of human endeavor, Ogbonna said, noting that his team was made up of officials and Resource persons drawn from various institutions of higher learning in the country.

The team leader pointed out that the essence of the accreditation was to ensure quality assurance of the programmes run by the institutions under its supervision.

Penpushing further reports that, the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) team were received at the institution by the Rector of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Pro. Kazeem Adebiyi and his management team.

The Rector in his remark, expressed gratitude to the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde for giving the institution financial support for the accreditation exercise, and assured the visiting team of the institution’s readiness for the exercise as well as its cooperation with the team on the exercise.

Penpushing also reports that, Adebiyi said there is a need for the country to rise to the challenge of giving technological education the required attention as a prelude to the industrial development of the country.
